Now fast forward to 2008, and Bice's second concert at the Sherman Theater. "I never got the chance to thank Patrick for what he did," Franko explained. She decided that it was time to thank him so she wrote a letter expressing her gratitude toward Patrick and the Sherman Theater for what they did for her family. She also enclosed a letter to thank Bice for his kindness.
Franko received a phone call a few weeks later from the Sherman Theater, asking if her family would be available to hang out with Bice before his concert this time around. The answer was yes, of course.
"We were there during sound check before the show," Franko said. "The principal of Colin's school knew that he was going so he told him that if he was able to get a tiger paw picture for Bo to sign that the entire fourth grade with get extra recess time."
Colin is now the superstar of his fourth grade class. He has had the chance to hang out with an American Idol star more than once.
During his visit with Bice this time around, Colin and Bice sang songs together. Colin made sure to show Bice his report card. Colin also showed Bice an important school assignment that he did. "He wrote a time line of the five greatest moments of his life and Bo was a part of that," Franko said.
Although Colin was unable to be at the concert Saturday night, he had quite the story to tell at school on Monday. "It was good," Colin explained. "I liked meeting Bo again. The best part was the tiger paw poster signing for extra recess for the fourth grade."
Bice genuinely loves children and he has shown his compassion for his fans more than once. Bice has made a life long friend in Colin and the Franko family is more appreciative than Bice will ever know.
April is Autism Awareness Month. What a better time for a story like this.
